About Us

Choice Recovery, founded by Dr. Tristan Shockley, is an intensive outpatient program (IOP) located in the Gaithersburg, Maryland, that will be providing comprehensive care to those affected by substance use disorder (SUD).

Choice Recovery will provide individualized and targeted therapeutic interventions including peer recovery coaching (PRC), mindfulness therapy, individual and group therapy and family programming.

Dr. Shockley is a dedicated professional with a passion for delivering high-quality care to those struggling with SUD. He has experienced SUD throught his existing practice, Choice Pain and Rehabilitation Center, and wants to provide the means for individuals to achieve long-term recovery.

Dr. Shockley, a graduate of Howard University in Washington D.C. has completed medical internships in Phoenix, Arizona, and specialty training in the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore/University of Maryland.

As an American Board of Physical Medicide & Rehabilitation certified physician, Dr. Tristan Shockley’s interests include musculoskeletal medicine, non-surgical interventional pain medicine including fluoroscopy and ultrasound guided procedures, weight management, prolotherapy and other general psychiatric treatments.
